Douglas Macarthur Canterbury 72, of Dingess, West Virginia passed away at his home on Thursday, February 25, 2016. He was born in Mingo County on May 26, 1943 to the late Joseph and Nevada Ramey Canterbury. In addtion to his parents, he is preceded in death by 8 brother and 2 sisters.
Douglas is survived by his children, Dawn Nicole (Lee) Murphy of Lenore, West Virginia and Steven Jason Varney of Dingess, West Virginia along with his grandchildren, Destinee Cisco, Autumn Cisco, Logan Murphy and Paislee Murphy and one great-grandchild, Adalyn Rose. He is also survived by three siblings, Thelma Quayle of Tucson, Arazonia, Rachel Stevens of Lorraine, Ohio and Eliza Gorsuch of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at the Warfield Chapel of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Kentucky on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 1:00pm with Brother Ellis Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the Canterbury Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home.
